Happy New Year, Neighbors -
I hope you had a healthy, restorative holiday season with your loved ones. This is my first e-mail update to you and I look forward to continuing to share news from Clintonville Area Commission. I will share resources and news items below that are relevant to our community here in Central Clintonville, but it feels hollow to dive into “business as usual” without first acknowledging the attack on our nation’s capitol this week.

I am ashamed, heartbroken, and angry over the violence that occurred in D.C. Though we might feel far removed physically from what happened, this direct assault on our democracy - an act of domestic terrorism - impacts us all. And although my role advocating for Central Clintonville is incredibly local and generally touches on infrastructure updates, zoning variance requests, and other neighborhood-specific concerns, I realize that I have a voice on our community’s behalf and that you deserve to know what my values are. So it is important to me to pledge to you to always denounce white supremacy, tyranny, and violence. CAC Planning & Development Committee Announces Neighborhood Mobility Survey

We need your input to improve neighborhood mobility!

The survey below will help the CAC Planning and Development Committee update the Mobility Framework Plan, which was completed in 2015. Initial results include Phase 1 of the Neighborhood Bikeway, crosswalk improvements, planted medians, and the traffic signal box art installations.

This 10-minute survey will help identify new ideas and set priorities for how we continue to improve our neighborhood. As compensation for your time, those that complete the survey will be eligible to enter a drawing for two $25 gift cards, one to the Clintonville Farmers Market and another to Knosh Columbus. You can also opt-in to having the results shared to you via email.

Save the Date: Public Meeting on Olentangy Trail Connector to be held Thurs, Jan. 21, 6-7:30 PM

The City of Columbus and its partners are evaluating options to complete the Olentangy Trail by connecting Clinton-Como and Northmoor parks with a dedicated, 0.6 mile shared use path.

Franklin County Auditor: 2020 Triennial Update Review Process

Franklin County Auditor Michael Stinziano recently visited CAC to share resources for residents navigating the triennial property value update process. You should have recently received your assessment information via U.S. mail. If you would like to contest the updated figure, please see the link below to schedule a Zoom meeting and make any complaints by March 31st. When filing your complaint, consider submitting supporting documentation to expedite the process and note that assessments do not take interior conditions into account. Some examples of supporting documentation include settlement/closing statements, purchase contracts, and appraisals. Your case may be chosen for mediation, which is a less formal process that can be an efficient way to resolve your complaint.

Columbus City Council Soliciting Applications for Council Residential Districting Commission

Applications for appointment to the Council Residential Districting Commission are due by NOON on 1/21/21. CRDC will consist of five members, four of whom will be appointed by Council through an application process. The Mayor and Council President will select the final member, who will serve as commission chair. Commission members will be selected in February.
