Hi Neighbors,

I hope you are all enjoying the season and staying cool as we dive into peak summer months. Thank you so much to all those who signed my recent petition to appear on the ballot and/or voted in the CAC election last month. I am very happy to share that I will continue serving on the CAC for a three-year term.

As life begins to open up, Clintonville is seeing lots of new activity. Pattycake Bakery is moving into District 5 at Acton and High. Since last fall, I have been working as part of the new volunteer board of the Clintonville Area Business Association - we will be having our next networking happy hour at Global Gallery July 8th, details below.

I am also working with colleagues to formulate a new Task Force on Homelessness in our community, which I hope will serve to launch a yearlong series of community conversations based in factual, compassionate dialogue about how we can best support our unhoused or otherwise vulnerable neighbors. The tentative date for a first meeting will be August 3rd at 7 PM, pending CAC approval of expenditure on the first speaker we have selected.

SURVEY OPPORTUNITY: Repurposing MAPFRE

The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department is seeking community input on purposes for the former Columbus Crew stadium, which is currently being referred to as the Columbus Community Sports Park. A representative from the City of Columbus recently presented options to the CAC and the presentation he shared will be posted on CAC’s site soon. In brief, the 25 acre parcel will be turned into facilities that benefit all ages, with both indoor and outdoor spaces as well as potentially tournament-grade facilities. There are roughly 200,000 Central Ohioans living within three miles of the site and it will have significant regional impact.

CAC Meeting Thurs 7/1 at 7 PM

The agenda for the upcoming monthly CAC meeting has been published to the Clintonville Area Commission calendar. Pursuant to Ohio House Bill 404, virtual public meetings will no longer be in effect and this will be the first IN PERSON meeting during my tenure with CAC.

A very special thanks to local small business Bleu and Fig for allowing us to utilize their space. Bleu and Fig is located 4622 N High St, the NE corner of Garden Rd and High St. Bleu & Fig has a shared parking arrangement with Eagle Candy and Beechwold Bicycles after 6 PM. Public attendees and guests are free to park there. There are 3 parking spaces directly behind the venue that will be reserve for attendees with mobility challenges.
